After Tom's Obliviate

Dearest Father,

I do understand the war against Grindewald is complicated, both politically and strategically. Do the Germans have any real idea where he might be? I was merely seeking some reassurance, and meaningless as it might be. I know you’re doing everything you can, that everyone is. But the newspaper reports do not always make it clear exactly how the war effort is going. It seems that they try to paint everything in as positive a light as possible, and so some setbacks come as a complete shock. We are winning, aren’t we?

There is no danger that I told Tom anything that may be considered dangerous. I know that I know very little on the subject. We only spoke very generally about the theory of behind death rituals and bindings. The traditional marriage ceremony was a magical binding, was it not? I do not recall so far as describing the work you did. But Tom does know a little of your role in the DoM, and I am sure he would like to know more.

The Hogsmeade weekend for February is the fourteenth. Tom and Minerva will be spending much of the day together. Olive and I will probably. But was thinking that we, Tom, Minerva, you and I, could have lunch together at the Three Broomsticks. Maybe Eddie Tom is more interested in the diverse possibilities of magic usage than anyone else I know, and I am sure that he will be eager to hear about your theories. I do hope you like him.

How is Eddie? It seems so long since I saw him last. Has he grown, again? He won’t tell me in the letters he write. And mother and Mrs Hooper?

I hope you are well. Please write as soon as you can with details for February.

Love,

father
