So yeah, in amidst all the craziness I completely forgot that I have such a thing as a LiveJournal. So...yeah. Residency. It's not bad. Busy, but okay, I guess.
Oh, screw this, who am I kidding? I love this and there's no sense denying it. I'm tired as hell post call and I feel stupid when some other first year resident drops some ultra-rare diagnosis when we review images on morning rounds, but you know what? I love this. Love it love it love it.
I'm on the general medicine service. I'm probably not the best resident in the service and I still feel useless on the code blues but I'm having a phenomenal time. I can write orders and have them done. I can manage patients. Relatively stable patients, mind; the crazy stuff I need a bit of backup yet, but the seniors are more than happy to help, and I know from talking to my friends that I'm not alone.
the only thing I wish i had more of is time. I'm home by 6 at night usually, but even then I have reading, getting ready for the next day, a whole bunch of other things to take care of, gym...you name it. I'm pressed for time, I'm sleep-deprived, I was on call last night and I'm on again Saturday...and honestly, it's fantastic. Residency is so much more fun than med school. Plus, not long till my first neurology block! It's going to be awesome.
