Well, I'm here. I am now a resident of the city of Ottawa. I'm in my new apartment, barren as it is without the rest of the furniture. I have a whole pile of things to deal with and negotiate - today I need to get the gym membership, the cell phone and the library card taken care of. The apartment is beautiful, but I need a screen replaced and there is a pigeon nest on the balcony that I need to figure out what to do with. I'm torn between wanting the fuckers off the balcony and not wanting to hurt them or destroy the egg. Stupid ethics. I'll ask the building manager; maybe I'll be lucky and there will be something they can do that will leave me out of it.
The two cats I have with me are not taking the move that well. Tyche is adjusting, but she's wandering around and crying when she can't see me, while Kumani is holed up in one of the closets and not really coming out much. They both were yowling last night; I'm lucky I introduced myself to the neighbours and warnedthem/apologized pre-emptively. Kumani, well, I haven't seen her eat or drink anything, though she seems alert and bright and they have free access to food and water. I'll leave some windows open today so it's cool while I'm outside, and I'll leave them the boxes to hide in if they want.
So many things to do, and residency starts in just over a week. Erk.
