Character Notes:
History: Sheva grew up in West Africa with her parents, living a fairly normal life until she was 8 years old, when her parents were killed in a pharmaceutical lab “accident”. She would find out later on that it wasn’t an accident at all, but a test run conducted by the Umbrella Corporation for one of their Bio-Organic Weapons (hereafter referred to as “B.O.W.s”). Afterward, with the government's help, Umbrella wiped out her village and everyone else in it. By this time, she had joined an anti-government guerrilla group to try and stop further experiments and “accidents” from happening. When she was 15, an American group told her that Umbrella was going to sell a B.O.W. to the group that she was already in. Furious, she decided to help the Americans out and with her help, they were able to apprehend the salesman before the deal went down. The men that originally contacted her asked if she would like to start over again in the U.S., and she accepted. Within months, she was already speaking English fluently and enrolled in college when she was 17.
After graduation, she was persuaded to join the Bioterorrism Security Assessment Alliance (Also known as the B.S.A.A. for short), and was sent into training, where she met Captain Josh Stone. After training under him for eight months, she was selected to be an agent. She still kept in contact with Josh during this time, becoming something of a "little sister" to the group.
She was then chosen to help Chris Redfield investigate the incidents in the Kijuju region, being chosen to put the peoples’ minds at ease as well as to serve as a guide. There had been increasing racial tension ever since the new government went into power, therefore the commanders in charge had thought it would be a good idea for someone like Sheva to be there for Chris in case.
Personality: As seen from cutscenes in Resident Evil 5, Sheva is a fairly compassionate and caring person, and will do anything in her power in order to help others. She is truly disgusted with what Wesker and Excella have done to the people in Kijuju, along with all the other experiments that had been done by Umbrella over the years. She is also fiercely dedicated to her job and is willing to even sacrifice herself, as shown when she tries to kill Wesker by sacrificing herself. Luckily, Chris stops her before that even happens.
I will be the first to admit to the fact that Sheva isn’t completely confident when it comes to her job sometimes, especially when she’s worried about the welfare of others. She has her doubts when she and Chris stumble upon the old Umbrella facility underground, worried that they might be the next people to die since the entire Alpha Squad of the B.S.A.A. was wiped out earlier by someone infected with the Oroboros. However, she eventually gets the courage to continue on, saying her famous line, “We’re partners, to the end!” when Chris asks her if she’s sure she wants to continue.
