German friends

I forgot to mention in my journal earlier... In the first week of January we recieved this big parcel in the mail from Germany! It was a Christmas present from Stephanie and her family! =D They gave mum and dad a big box of Printen (sort of like a kind of chocolate covered gingerbread) from Aachen... mum was like, "Let's save it for when we go to Torquay" and last time I looked in the box more than half of it was gone... and dad had only had one piece. Hmm. (But it is delicious... I'm gonna try to scab me a piece too =D ). Emma got a big book of SUDOKU... I laughed so hard. It was cos Steffi had never seen the game before and always marvelled at how quickly Emma could do the ones in the Herald Sun every day, so I guess she though Emma was obsessed with SUDOKU. =D It's funny but I think Em still loves it. And guess what she got for me? None other than "The Best of Broadway: 50 of the Worlds Favourite Broadway songs", as performed by some german choir. >D She knows me too well!!!! Granted, because a] it's a choir ( "They're all repressed!" says Emma), and b] english isn't their native language, it sound a little bit hollow... you know, like they're not feeling the expressing with the music, etc, but it's still reeeally really good! I've been listening to it non-stop since I got it. =D There's this fantastic version of 'Hey Big Spender' from Sweet Charity (remember when we thought that was gonna be Tintern's next musical, and we were all like, "Ah! How do I learn to dance like a professional pole dancer, get the body for fishnets, AND beat out all the other 50 girls auditioning for the SOLE two mains parts? Ahhh!" LOL. Good times.) and it's all full of sass and high kicks. But some of them sound bad... they did Beauty and the Beast and it sounds less like the Broadway version and more like the Celine Dion version, ie, too breathy and frilly and whiny and just plain bad.

But yeah, wasn't it sweet of them? Of course, we sent over some presents too, but theirs are so much more personal... d'awww.

Also, I downloaded 3 more songs from Avenue Q, and they just rock my world.
