musicals

YAY! Last night I saw Norwood High School's musical. They did Back to the 80's. Cute and predictable. I have to say it wasn't nearly as good as any of their previous productions (I generally find that as far as school musicals go, Norwoods are top-notch) that I've seem, but there were 3 standout actors anyway. The boy who played the vice-principal, whom I also saw in Cosi last year and in Footloose 2 years ago as the Reverand (and, if there existed Tony awards for school musicals, he would have swept the floor doing that role.), was fantastic, given his miniscule role. I've said before, he's an amazing actor and if he wants to pursue it as a career he'll go far. He was wasted here. The girl who played the female teacher rocked (also in Cosi as the OCD woman), and was a fantastic dancer - but also underused. Finally, the guy who played Feargul, the nerd, just totally got into his part and was well utilised! He was hilarious - good actor and singer, and as far as I could tell a good dancer (although all he did was groove nerdily along to Video Killed the Radio Star. Hey, Kitty, Mishy! It's our song!!!). I saw him playing a completely opposite character in Cosi, a pyromaniac. So I know it wasn't just typecasting! He. Was. FANTASTIC!!!

But aside from those three, and a few good singers and dancers in the lead girls, it wasn't all that fantastic. I mean, I still enjoyed it. I guess I just expected more. :P

Then, tonight I'm going to see The Production Company doing The Pyjama Game! Yay!!! And it's got Pippa Grandison in it, who aside from being an awesome singer and actor, played Scaramouche in We Will Rock You, and therefore rocks my world.

Plus, I've got new Wicked and Avenue Q to watch and listen to.

I am so spoiled for musicals. =D =D =D
