Being Human 2x02

Well... that was dark

My thoughts:

1. I thought George was a hypocrite -- he's forgiven Mitchell for what he did to Lauren, but he's far less willing to do the same for Carl. And yeah, I know Mitchell is his friend and all... but it still felt wrong to me.

2. I was upset at first that Annie regressed again, because I was really looking forward to her having more agency this season, but as lionessvalenti pointed out to me, if we look at this as a PTSD metaphor, it's not saying that she has no agency, it's simply recognising that relapses are a part of that condition -- and looking at it that way, I think it's good that the show isn't going down the OMG MAGICAL CURE route. And man, her experiences this episode were certainly traumatic enough -- the assault scenes were definitely disturbing.

3. The Mitchell and Lucy interactions were very cute. I did love Mitchells, "Oh my God, I'm turning into my flatmate."

4. Oh, Nina. D:

5. How infuriating that the first gay character with a speaking role was part of YET ANOTHER "death and bereavement" storyline. DEAR EVERYONE IN THE UNIVERSE IN CHARGE OF TV SHOWS AND MOVIES: THERE ARE OTHER STORIES YOU CAN TELL ABOUT SAME-SEX COUPLES, YOU KNOW. EVEN (ESPECIALLY) IN SHOWS THAT AREN'T AIMED SPECIFICALLY AT LGBTQUI AUDIENCES.

6. Very disappointed by the lack of Annie/Nina interaction. I rather suspect that George will be the one to rescue Nina next week, but I HOPE that it's Annie who does it instead.
