Verandah, if it's a house. If it's a flat (see below), a balcony.
Carbonated, sweetened, non-alcoholic beverages.
Soft Drink.

Okay, we don't even have furnaces or rec rooms. :) I'd call it a cellar or basement, but we don't generally have these in Australian houses.
What do you call the thing that you can get water out of to drink in public places?
Bubbler.

A flat (Americans would call it an apartment).
What do you call the strip of concrete that runs alongside the road for pedestrians?
Footpath.
What do you call the thing that you use to get water from the pipes into a sink?
Tap.
What do you call summertime footwear consisting of a (usually) rubber sole, held onto the foot by a two strands of rubber, or fabric that meet between the big toe and second toe?
Thongs.
And because my vocabulary there could cause confusion:
What do you call a latex device for preventing pregnancy and protecting against STIs?
A condom.
What do you call underwear in which the back is only a string that sits between the buttocks?
A g-string.
What do you call a device for removing pencil marks from a piece of paper?
A rubber.
