  • OMG! You guys, lionessvalenti wrote me an awesome belated birthday fic! :D We Are More than This Hotel Room -- White Collar, Peter/El/Neal, NC-17, 3,100 words. It's beautifully written and it's romantic and hot -- but it's also realistic and doesn't shy away from dealing with the way that poly relationships are perceived and the ways that Peter, El, and Neal have to negotiate that. It's seriously brilliant.
  • I'm still struggling to feel any excitement over TW S4, but RTD has assemebled an extremely good group of writers, and so I'm happy for those of you who ARE excited. I am also very pleased to see that there are plenty of women on the list. Whatever else one might say about RTD, I do think he's genuinely committed to giving women important roles in his shows, and while his representations of women haven't always been perfect (but who is perfect?), I feel that he's generally done a lot better than most in that regard. I was always disappointed, however, at the lack of women writing for Doctor Who and Torchwood -- hopefully this signals a change!
  • I sent my original short story off to Dreamspinner this week, which makes me happy. If it gets rejected, that's okay -- simply writing it and sending it off is achievement enough, given that a few years ago I had completely given up on myself as a writer of fiction. Also -- I'm continuing to write about these characters. It's kind of weird, coming at this as someone who primarily writes fanfiction -- I mean, there's a certain freedom to writing these original characters, and a certain safety too, becuase no one can kill them off on me. But it's also less communal (even though I've been sharing these with a number of you), and I miss the way that with fanfic, you can make different interpretations of the characters intersect, and the way you need to be creative to make that happen.

Okay, I'm shutting comments on this post down. I realise that there have been some divisive posts lately in TW fandom, but I have not been reading them. I prefer to ignore such things. The few posts I HAVE read about S4 have been very reasonable and well-handled by the person who started them. And yes, I'm totally NOT excited for S4, and I do completely understand why people need some company in that, but all I said in this post was that even though I'm not excited, I'm HAPPY for people who are excited, and I'm so not up to moderating a discussion about fandom divisiveness and stuff like that at the moment. So I'm shutting down comments. I just don't have the emotional energy to get invested in this conversation.
