OK so I just learnt the song 'Golden Brown' by the Stranglers was actually about heroine *is shocked*
It seems that the increase of my command of the English language is proportionnal with the decrease of my innocence, if that makes any sense. Learning English can ruin your innocence, srsly. When you've spent all your life listening to songs without ever thinking twice about the lyrics or their meanings... since you couldn't understand them at the time.
But dammit, heroine! what next? now what, you're gonna tell me
Keith Richards once snorted his own father? (ok this is old news, but still).
I needed some innocence back so I downloaded and watched Disney's little mermaid, who is, like, the epitome of naiveté. It's been something like a decade since I last saw this movie, so the regression was refreshing.
And it was the first time I actually watched it in English. The French cook song cracked me up. Being French myself, you see.
I feel so nerdy updating this journal no one reads
no one hears me screaming in the great internet void
