My first after-thoughts?

OH.
MY.
FREAKING.
GOD.
Yes. That sums it up perfectly well... The book is in one word: AMAZING. I laughed, I cried, I gasped, I hated, I loved....It think it's safe to say that it knocked PoA of the #1 position as my fave HP book. J.K. Rowling is a brilliant woman, her story is one of the best pieces of fiction ever written. And I think OotP sort of outgrew the status of a children's book. First of all because it has 766(or 896) frickin pages, hehe. And secondly because it's darker than it's predecessors, it's more mature.
Ok let's get it going. Beware of random thoughts, I was never one to write something that connects perfectly well with it each other. I can go from the begining of the book till the end and then go back to somewhere in the middle...and yeah there might be some insanity.
I absolutely LOVE OotP Harry, bitterness all around. *squee* I love how he responds to all that's happened and happening to him. It was about bloody time that he should stop taking crap from everyone. Most of the time I simply want to hug him.... *huggles Harry* He yelled at his friends, Umbridge (get to that soon) and Dumbledore and the whole time I was cheering him on, even though he was out of bounds some of the time hehe. Cedric's death really got to him, it brought him into adulthood even quicker than before. And oooh he's gotten better at responding to Draco-evilness *grins*
Ack Umbridge! She's one hell of a SADISTIC MORONIC BITCH!! I so wanted to put Crucio on her time and time again. She BANNED Harry, Fred & George from Quidditch, CONVISTICATED their brooms, SACKED Hagrid, MADE UP all those stupid rules, SEND the Dementors to Perret Drive, BECAME friggin Headmistress and so much more...aaaah! She's by far the most hated character now, altough Fudge comes in close, heh. Stupid sodding Ministry ppl....
And OMG Percy! Bastard! Turning on his family and friends! He should've been sorted into Slytherin...He's overly ambitious and cold hearted too.
Ok the death, the most evil hint that J.K. spilled before the release of Phoenix... I didn't immediately looked it up to peek who died, I wanted to read it while fully understanding the background story. So yeah I did...I knew it wouldn't be Mrs Weasley from the start, because she didn't really go on any missions. Then I got a seriously horrible feeling that it would be Sirius.. I was convinced by the time He went along to see Harry off on 9 3/4.... I dunno why I was convinced of it though. Maybe because he plays such a big part early in the book and having been told his family background story and all. So then I got to the Death part and my suspicions were true...SIRIUS DIED! I started crying, I knew why J.K. cried when she wrote it, because I felt the same way. Sirius was my fave character out of all the books and now he died, killed by his own COUSIN. I still can't believe it, I'm in denial just like Harry.
The Voldemort vs. Dumbledore scenes were awesome. Dumbledore kept calling Voldie "Tom" like he was still a kid at Hogwarts, hehe. Finally we saw what kind of magics Dumbledore knows...man he's powerful. No wonder Voldemort fears him. "Indeed, you failure to understand that there are things much worse than death has always been your greatest weakness..." LOVED that part.
Prophecy part...hmm the fact that J.K. used a prophecy is a bit lame, been used a lot by other creators..*cough*Joss&Lucas*cough* I preferred the theory of Harry being Godric Gryffindor's heir better. But in some way a Prophecy does make sense. So I'm still confused about my feelings regarding that hehe. It's cool to know tough, that *that* was the reason Trelawny got accepted as Divination teacher.
The prophecy content were expected to be something among the lines of "A child will be born, he will be the one to overcome the Dark Lord" But Harry being the one that'll have to kill Voldemort.. I expected it but still it came as something unexpected anyway.. hmm weird hehe ;)
I felt for Dumbledore though, he had to carry all of that inside him, not telling Harry before because he cared for him and wanted to at least give him some happiness in his already very lousy and difficult life.
LOVED:
- Big D, mwahahaha that's so funny! and then Harry made fun of him hehe.
- Big D implying that Harry might be gay! *grin*
- Fred & George, all their new inventions are so cool! and WHOO they left Hogwarts as legends! I hope they will be in the last 2 books a lot.
- Dark!Harry, I love Harry and I think he moved up and is now my fave character because the old #1 tragically died :'(
- Draco Malfoy, ugh evil git hehe. But it's soooo obvious he's jealous of Harry! And he needs to have his attitude checked. Spoiled little git. But still afraid of the things that live inside Forbidden Forest and the mention of Voldermort's name.
- The Dementor attack, was just wow. I sorta expected it because I heard some rumours of it, but still it left my mouth hanging open. Harry saving his cousin and himself with his Patronus and then Mrs Figg the Squib...I knew she wasn't gonna be the new DADA teacher because Rowling said so, but still I was surprised she was a Squib.
- Brave Neville...he was so cool! I never knew he had it in him, but he was sorted into Gryffindor after all. *hugs Neville*
- The Black Family background story... Sirius related to the Malfoys and Lestranges! And his mother...what an evil woman. gah, her portrait gave me the creeps.
- Aunt Petunia knowing what Dementors are! My mouth fell open from pure shock!
- Rebellious Hermione!
- DA, Dumbledore's Army :) Wicked!! Harry would make a great teacher hehe. And they could become the Young OotP, hmmmm.
- McGonagall's rebellion hehe, cracked me up a few times ;)
- Ginny! Wow she can talk! hehe. I love it how she finally shows to have a backbone and got over her Harry crush.
- The Sorting Hat's new song, it was so cool.. and it even left me hoping that there would be some new friendships formed between two houses...darn that didn't happen though *g*
- Lockheart! *squee* He was so funny hehe.
- Ron and Hermione as prefects, altough we didn't get much prefect action. I was ok with Harry not being one.
- Ron definitely not being Wood... no one can replace Wood!
- "Weasley is our king" God Malfoy you brilliant evil git ;)
- Snape's Hogwarts memory starring himself, the Marauders and Lily Evans. Poor Snively. Wow James surely was an arrogant arse at 15/16 hehe. Lily & James? Totally got the opposites attract thing going on between them ;)
- Mwahaha Mr Lucius "Smooth" Malfoy got exposed!
- Draco wants Harry to pay...pay how? *winks*
- That Room of Requirement might be....useful for Harry's punishment *grin*
- Garwp! Or what's his name hehe...but love him! "Hermy want Haggy!!!" hehehe I loove caveman talk.
- Those Testrals sound cool! I want one! *pouts*
- Harry smashing things in Dumbledore's office...just let it all out honey :)
Meeeh's & Bleeeh's:
- UMBRIDGE!!! Why didn't Dumbledore let the Centaurs kill her?? DDIIEEEEE.
- Almost no Ron/Hermione stuff!! Only got a friggin kiss on the cheek, bickering and Krum jealousness.. hmpf.
- Ginny the upcoming Slut...suddenly two boyfriends in one year???
- Umbridge, god I hate that woman.
- A look into Snape's past... I wanted more than one solid memory and a few flashes.
- Sirius DIED! *sobs* Padfoot is gone... and he never even got to clear his name! Died as a convicted murder that escaped from Azkaban and not as a free man.
- DIE Bellatrix, DIE!!! Killing your own cousin! Drove the Longbottoms insane with Crucio...and still you get to LIVE!
- Umbridge...gaaah!
- Harry sometimes overdoing his "no one understands what it's like to be me" act.
- Lupin's very small part...at least should've given us more Moony/Padfoot action!!
- I want to hit Fudge with a frying pan over the head, how is it possible that that morron ever became Minister of Magic!!??
- Kreacher...stupid double-crossing useless and biased house elf. *grr*
- Luna...god she was annoying and so suddenly present everywhere.
- Harry/Cho, they snogged once, fought and then left things unresolved. Cho was using him *grr* *hugs Harry* He doesn't need that bitch anyway, a thing he figured out by himself in the end...he needs a certain blonde, sexy & evil slytherin...
- Umbridge! She sort of tortured Harry and want to give him Veritaserum!
- The Centaurs...I never knew they could be so...ruthless.
- There was simply too little H/D action, meeeh
Conclusions? J.K. Rowling and Joss Whedon are brother and sister or have at least been talking to each other...Only utterly evil geniusses can pull this off.
And I hope they get a better new DADA in the next book, someone like Lupin. And more Snape background story!
