Florida

Hey y'all

So I've been in Florida since last Wednesday and so far we haven't done much. I've enjoyed sitting by the pool, but I'm getting a little sick of being housebound. Oh well. The weather has been great and I have a tan/burn (oops) which is always good since I look like a ghost for the majority of the year. I've finished reading the two books I brought down so I bought a third one today from the grocery store. hehe Gotta love the states and the over abundance of everything in every store. Do people really need 3lbs of bananas for 99 cents?

Anyhoo, there are lots of funny stores to tell that have already happened. One being the first night Esther and I were down here we had a wonderful visitor hang out in our shower. By visitor I mean a salamander the size of my father's hand hanging on the ceiling. SO GROSS! Of course we were the only ones in the house at the time because the others were coming down the next day. So after a couple of phone calls to Toronto and a lot of yelling about how we (Estehr and I) were not going to hit it with a broom then pick it up and take it outside, I went over to our neighbour Bill the ex-cop while Esther watched the slimy white/pink salamander incase it went somewhere else. Bill came over, had a good laugh at us, and then chased the salamander around the house for a couple of minutes until he finally caught it and took it outside. Apparently salamanders are common in Florida...I can deal with spiders and earwigs and silverfish and all the other creepycrawlies we have in Toronto, but salamanders???? HELL NO! so gross! They are all over the place! You have to watch where you step on the sidewalks because they are everywhere like worms, except these suckers jump out of bushes and scare you.

I hope everyone is enjoying the snowless winter we are having (sorry snowboarders). I'm enjoying my time down here and I know the houseboundess feeling will pass. I just have to wait for the holidays to be over with.

Oooo so there's some new reality shows on MTV this year one being Beauty and the geek. It was really funny to watch some girls struggle hooking up a comp. Then again it was equally as funny to watch the "geeks" or tech guys try to understand colour coordination when decorating a room and picking out clothing.

Alright so I'm going to go now. Heading out to dinner soon. I hope everyone is enjoying being done exams/work terms. Have a great time having no responsibilities :D I'll see everyone when I come back next week.
