okay so RENT last thursday...
O M GGG
i had chills the entire time. like, i just could NOT believe i was there. everyone said it would be so much different than the movie and i was prepared for that. it really was different, but i still loved it. mark was just as good as anthony rapp. the guy who played roger though was bad. he was kinda scary looking and he belted alot of things and ruined the moments. our mimi was decent, though i think rosario dawson was better singing-wise. our maureen was AMAZING. omg. as much as i love idina menzel, this girl was 10x better. she made "over the moon" seem hilarious rather than awkward. benny and collins were really good too. and angel was a good dancer, but not as good looking or as good singing as the one in the movie. the only thing i didn't really like was how after "without you" instead of going right to "i'll cover you reprise", they had this weird sex scene that totally ruined the mood. i was just like WTF? but i absolutely LOVEDDDDD "goodbye love" and the song before it where roger and mark are fighting. why they didn't put that in the movie, i do not know cuz it was awesome.
oh and i almost forgot. at one part, mimi throws her bag of crack down and it kinda slides down the stage. its' a very insignificant thing in the show but for some reason i noticed it and then it dawned on me. in 9th grade, when mr. kristoff took some of the chorus ppl to that rent workshop (which i didn't go to cuz i didn't have the money for it unfortunately) and i remember him coming back the next day and saying something about how he stole a bag of crack off the stage and i was just like "okayyy WTF?" and when i saw her throw that bag i was like "OMG. that was what he was talking about. that was the bag he stole. ohhhhh mr. kristoff" and i took it as a sign :-D
during intermission my mom gave me money to buy a tank top at the little booth as a christmas present. it's white and has the RENt logo, and then it says "measure your life in love" and i really liked it. they only had a child's large but w/e i could sooo fit into that lol. so she's keeping it away from me till christmas but whatever i can wait another 3 months lol.
this weekend everyone left for rosh hashanna cuz like, all of hofstra is jewish lol. there was seriously NO ONE on campus lol. so i took mandy and katie to my house and we had a hofstra/hicksville slumber party lol. it was....interesting to say the least lol. we ate chinese food and had a rather interesting night lol. the next day my mom took me and my roomies shopping at costco and stuff for more room supplies (massive amounts of toilet paper and goldfish and milk, fuck yea).
i saw step up with celine last week and it was freakin amazing. OMG channing tatum is sooooooo georgeous WHY HAD I NEVER REALIZED THAT BEFORE?!?!?! i love dance movies to begin with but when the guy is actually hot for once....ohhhh my lordy. let's just say that step up is one of my new favorite movies. that and stick it is now on DVD so guess who's already seen it about 3 times since tuesday.
