Happy Birthday to Me!
Another year older and still ahead of my time...
I could not have asked for a more wonderful birthday (especially at the ripe old age of 19 when it is not only uncool to demand birthday attention, it is downright rude). In beautiful Wayne, NE there are several establishments who will offer free products on your birthday if you can proove that it actually is your birthday (e.g. I.D.). So today I had free Godfather's Pizza buffet, free Runza (for my sick friend--I didn't eat that much), a free car wash, and a free movie rental. I was flashing my billfold so much that I began to fancy myself an F.B.I. agent. And why the hell not? I was my birthday, after all.
On top of loads of exciting freebies, Dad grilled salmon for me--the thing I miss most from Bear's Den--and I made a fabulous honey-lemon sauce for it. Definately the highligh of the day. Even better than hanging out with Tyler, Andy, and Britni and playing Scrabble and Anagrams, which I introduced to them and they turned out to love. The was a lot of fun, so you can just imagine how good that salmon was...
To top things off, I got home and found my inbox flooded with well-wishes and even a job offer! Horray!
Some people might say that a birthday without any party or gifts sounds way lame, but I quite enjoyed myself. Maybe I'm growing up. Or maybe I just expect some wild celebration to come.
