So in 2021 I read 80 books that I finished (2 more than last year!), and 5 books that I didn't finish for various reasons. All of this doesn't include any Bible or fanfic reading

I want to read the Call the Midwife books - is the TV series close to the books? And Nala's World is on my to read list as well. You're a fan of reading series, eh? 😁
Yeah, if it's part of a series, and I like the first book, well, I tend to read the rest pretty much straight away!! :D :D Though the Susanna Gregory 'Bartholomew' books are being spread out a bit more, as they're quite big books with rather involved plots, so I find I need a break from them (plus there's soooo many of them too)!
The 'Call the Midwife' books are a lot grittier than the series, and although the first series (and possibly second? Can't remember for sure), do follow things from the books, they like to change how the events happened/ended or who the people involved were at times. I'm glad I read the books first, before catching up on the show, but yeah, I'd recommend them if you don't mind the extra grittiness, and can accept some events didn't happen exactly the way they did in the show. The later series don't follow the books at all.
'Nala's World' was really enjoyable! You should totally read that!
It's the best memoir about a dog that I have ever read. I started reading it and the language blew me away and I was thinking 'who is this man', so I googled him. He's a very famous author who has received a Pulitzer for one of his books, which explains why he can write so well.
An added bonus is at the end of the book the dog is still healthy and happy, something that you don't normally come across in 'dog' books.
Thanks for the rec! I've put it on my wishlist, but atm it's nearly £20, even secondhand isn't much less!! So that will have to wait a while. Might see if my library has/can get it in later in the year. :D
Thanks! :D And yeah, I've had a couple of books I just couldn't finish no matter how hard I tried. In the end, I decided life's too short to bother struggling through books that aren't grabbing me, and so now I'm more willing to let a book go.

Congratulations! I've got three that I can't get through no matter how hard I try. [The Stand, Dune IV or V, & Don Quixote.]
