Every autumn, hubby goes and collects leaves from an area not far from home (don't worry, there's still plenty of leaves left for the wildlife, it's a big area) and makes a pile in the back border of our garden. This rots down over winter and becomes a lovely pile of leaf mould (aka compost), for use in the garden in the following autumn as a mulch ( Read more... )

We have quite a lot of blackbirds here as well.
So nice to hear them sing.

I love their song too. I even quite like being 'chuntered' at when I'm in 'their' garden, getting in their way!! I tend to talk to them, letting them know that I'm just filling up the seed feeders and then it's all theirs again!! :D

Hubby is also used to being chuntered at, but he doesn't budge and just gets on with the gardening!

You'll have to let us all know how the birds are doing. :)

Thanks for sharing. We like hearing your blackbirds are thriving, and how. Good for them for top dressing the lawn.

The blackbirds are very entertaining - even if they occasionally make hubby grumble, though not too seriously, after all, he does like them!! :D

And as I've pointed out to him, if she removes the moss from the lawn, she's doing him a favour, surely? Gives the grass a chance to fill the holes in! :D :D
