Annual Book Count

Dec 31, 2019 22:36

So in 2019 I read 76 books that I finished, 1 e-book that turned out to be a short story and 8 books that I didn't finish for various reasons. All of this doesn't include any Bible or fanfic reading.

I love Robyn Davidson - Tracks. I'm quite familiar with some of the area that she traveled through as I went through that area a couple of times way back when I was single.
I've got the National Geographic magazine that featured her trip, plus the two big hard covered photo books put out by Rick Smolan; From Alice to the Ocean: Alone in the Outback and Inside Tracks; Robyn Davidson's Solo Journey Across the Outback
I think that Robyn Davidson was misguided, she would have died if it wasn't for Rick Smolan.

Tracks is the only book from your list that I'm familiar with

I found 'Tracks' interesting, but I agree, if not for Rick Smolan she would most likely have died out there. I found some bits hard to read - like how some of the camels were treated at times, and the racism towards Aboriginals from others (though thankfully not from Robyn, who was happy to embrace them and their culture) - but it was all part of the time she was living in I guess. Certainly worth reading, though I'll admit, I'm not sure I want to read her other books atm. Though I might try another one at some point ( ... )

Thanks :)

I've added the following to my want to read list:
The two Felix the cat books. I love books about cats
The Terri Crisp books
The Children of the Wilderness by Janette Ross Riehle

My absolute favourite non-fiction cat book is
Cleo: How an uppity cat helped to heal a family by Helen Brown

Wow, that is a long list of books!

I think everyone's reading dropped a lot once they discovered the internet. :o(

I've read Three Men in a Boat and I'd rate it as only mildly amusing from what I read of it.

Longer than I thought it would be! But seems I'm better at putting the internet down these days!! Or maybe it's because hubby is later to bed than when he was working, lol!!

Three Men in a Boat is supposed to be hilarious, but it's sooo not!! Hubby did warn me! Ah well, at least I can say that I've read it!
