I haven't seen it yet, but am hoping to catch it next week when I'm visiting Jayne down south - but I haven't seen Doctor Strange or Thor Ragnarok yet either ( Read more... )

Nope, you don't have to have seen any of the previous movies to enjoy Black Panther. The only item that may be confusing is in the second after-credit scenes, you'd be confused if you haven't seen Winter Soldier

Unlike my friend Jayne - but fortunately she knows what I'm like and so keeps things to herself! :)

That's good then. One of my friends told me how Prison Break ended and I was only on episode 5 at the time! I was so not impressed. She keeps her mouth shut now though. :D

Considering how I usually forget what I have seen the next day, lol, that’s a no to both, hee... I actually just watched Dr Strange after BP, so... :D

Yep, this one is totally okay to see without seeing those others. I love both the others, and you'll need to see them before Avengers: Infinity Wars, I think, but Black Panther kind of stands on its own, other than some tie-ins to Civil Wars for its set up.

Ragnarok is one of my favorite Marvel movies so far, mostly because it's got even more humor than usual, but it's not something you have to see before Black Panther, regardless :)

Thanks!! I'll hopefully be catching up with the two movies next week, but it's good to know I can see Black Panther before I've done that if RL interferes with the plan!!

I'll definitely be up to date before Avegners: Infinity Wars! I saw a trailer (which I don't always do, but sometimes curiosity gets the better of me) and figured catching up first would be a good thing!

I have not seen Black Panther but from what I've heard, it takes place before Civil War and that it's really good.

As for Thor . . . a friend of my put it to me this way, Disney is going out of its way of cutting off men's balls left and right and this is a prime example of that. I don't know if this helps, but I haven't seen it so I can't comment. The general consensus is that it's torture porn O.O with the ladies holding the whips and Thor being reduced to a pathetic wimp. O.O . . .

That's actually more information about Thor than I wanted to be honest, but never mind.

Oops, sorry!!! It was in the previews so I didn't think I was spoiling anything. Sorry!!!

No, it's alright. It's been a while since I saw a preview for it and all I could remember was Hulk and Loki, for some reason the women with whips didn't register!

To be honest, I think I was probably reacting to your friend's view of the movie. Torture-porn doesn't sound like my thing, nor strong characters being made wimpy (unless there is an understandable reason). Hopefully it's not as bad as your friend has made it out to be!
