From PSP to PE, GIMP or something else?
I'd like some advice from icon-makers and users of photo manipulation software, please!
At present, I'm using Paint Shop Pro 7 - which even hubby agrees is pretty old these days - and so we are thinking of taking the plunge and getting new software! But, there's no way we're paying out for Photoshop - this is a hobby after all, not a career!
So, Photoshop Elements? Any good? If at some point in the future I wanted to buy/learn Photoshop itself, would it be a good basis for that, or is it completely different? Does anyone know how hard or easy it might be for me to change over to it? I'm accepting that I might have to go back to basics and start learning from scratch, though hoping it won't be that bad!
And what about GIMP? I've read it's supposed to be almost as good or even as good as Photoshop and is free, but am unsure if that is the way to go.
