Glitched from Klo:

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate? Both. Usually a doctored eggnog, but to be truthful I prefer Irish Cream.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Under the tree. Wrapped pressies are from family.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? several strings of white, and two strings of the "animated" white that goes through a blinking sequence on the tree. This year also have white outside. Didn't have the money to fork out for new lights, next year will be colored.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? No, but only because I don't think of it. I've done it once or twice.

5. When do you put your decorations up? Start either Thanksgiving day or the day after.

6. What is your favourite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? My mom's dressing, which I'm trying so hard to copy...

7. Favourite holiday memory as a child? Oh god, I have tons. Just the sheer inability to sleep on xmas eve. Xmas eve is actually my favorite holiday, no one is tired out, everyone is anticipating the next day, it's just fun. But back to memory... all the times I sat with mom and Memaw on xmas eve and drank coffee (mine with loads of milk) and laughed and laughed and laughed...yeah, stupid, now I've got tears in my eyes *smile*.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? dunno. I played along with it for so long, I've no idea when I figure it out. I did walk in on mom and Memaw setting out presents under the tree one year, they just told me to close my eyes and don't look. Think I was 12. After that, my xmases got a lot smaller! LOL!!

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? I did when I was little. Now we put a green pickle ornament on the tree (or a blue golf ball), and whichever kid finds the ornament gets to open a present. Of course, we find a way to let the other two open one as well.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? With ornaments I've had since I was tiny. This year is the first year I felt brave enough to get my mom's tree and decorate it with her stuff, my god, she was a classy lady. Glass and sparkles and glitz combined with homemade. It's awesome.

11. Snow? Love it or dread it? Love it. Course I hardly see it.

12. Can you ice skate? *sputters, then rolls on floor laughing* I can teach it. Does that count? Yeah, I can skate.

13. Do you remember your favourite gift? Erin being born the day after xmas. :) Though it was easily the most PAINFUL gift I ever received!!

14. What’s the most exciting thing about the holidays for you? The adrenaline of working retail on xmas eve. Looking forward to family gatherings. Seeing the kids with the new toys. Preparing for a new year.

15. What is your favourite holiday dessert? Anything sweet! I love cherry cheesecake.

16. What is your favourite holiday tradition? Riding around the city with blankets in the car and hot cocoa, looking at xmas lights. Sitting quietly on xmas eve with nothing but the tree lit, listening to music. The pickle.

17. What tops your tree? At the moment, nothing. Top of tree is wider than the old topper, so we need a new one.

18. Which do you prefer - giving or receiving? Both. I like giving things that people want, but I like getting things I want. But you have to drag a xmas list out of me these days, there just isn't much on there.

19. What is your favourite Christmas song? "Stille Nacht" (Silent Night)by Mannheim Steamroller, hands down. Has been for years. It is so haunting, it brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. I actually skated to this years ago, and felt so strongly about my performance that I didn't even watch it until last year, nearly ten years after I skated it.

20. Candy canes? I don't care for the peppermint so much (unless in cocoa), I prefer the fruity, but the kids love them. Hubby like to buy them up and hand them out to everyone he sees.
