The perfect library is one without patrons.
There is a common misconception that libraries exist for the purpose of servicing people.
This is false.
If you work in customer service, you do your job by serving people. If you work in a library, you do your job despite people.
A librarian's job is to collect information and to put that information in a neat, orderly, organised fashion. Any one who works in a library will tell you this is achievable only when there are no clients.
Libraries are temples of knowledge, constantly being desecrated by the masses.
It is a Red Queen's Race.
