I can't believe we almost two feet of snow fall Friday and Saturday!
Fridays plans did get shifted a bit. Ed's poker night was cancelled because the majority of the guys would have to drive to the house to play and there were no snowplows out. Since two of the poker night participants live within walking distance Ed invited them over while their wives and I went to the candle party. Luckily the party wasn't far and my girlfriend had 4 wheel drive. We didn't stay long because the snow was still coming down pretty heavily so we joined the husbands at my house. The guys crushed two cases + of beer and the ladies and I polished off a few bottles of wine and they ended up hagning out at my house until 1 am. Nights like that are great when the conversation just flows the way it did. It didn't feel like a late night until my head hit the pillow and I zonked out within seconds.
We didn't do anything Saturday. I was slightly hungover so I focused on laundry and cleaning my house for guests to come over for the Super Bowl. Firday night I discovered that our neighbors didn't have plans for the Super Bowl so we invited them down once again to watch the game on the big screen. I think it's great that we have neighbors that we enjoy hanging out with so much. We never had this before we moved to this neighborhood. We don't hang out often and we don't really talk on the phone much but we have a blast when we get together for a few drinks. We all have kids around the same age that play really well together and (bonus) the husbands like hanging out together too!
I did make the Guiness cupcakes and had the Super Bowl crowd be my guinea pig testers (I made some kid-friendly ones too). They all raved about them. Not the polite "Oh that's good" but the going for seconds raving. I don't cook well but I can bake fairly well so I'm always worried people are just being nice when I bring something I made. This was my first ever attepmt at cupcakes from scratch and I think they turned out pretty good. I think I will make some for the St. Patrick's day parade.
The kids school was cancelled but I did have to drive to work on never plowed streets today so that was a lot of fun. Luckily I have to do it again tomorrow and then starting around 10 am tomorrow it's going to start snowing again. Between then and Wednesday night we are supposed to get another 7 - 10 inches on top of the piles of snow we already have. It took us 4 hours to get our one car and driveway cleaned off Sunday. I can't wait until we try to get the van out, it should be a blast! (note sarcasm) Because of the impeding snow fall school was cancelled again tomorrow so Ed is staying home from work tomorrow and Wednesday. I don't have the luxury of staying home, especially since we just lost a teller and we're short handed as it is. But that is a story for another day.
