There have been a lot of little things happening in the World of Lee lately, so I figured this was a good time for an update!
(1) First and foremost is exciting news about the movie "Desert Cathedral"! It is finally going to be released on VOD on September 27! (Keep in mind that the bulk of this movie was filmed way back in 2011.) I've been anxious to see this movie ever since I heard about Lee's nude scene how good it is!
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. As part of the build-up to the release (heh), Lee will be attending a special theatrical showing of the film in NYC on September 21! Afterwards, there will be a Q&A with Lee and the movie's writer/director, Travis Gutiérrez Senger. More information
at this link, including a trailer with new footage of Lee that wasn't included in previous trailers:
If you're a peep living near NYC, go meet Lee!
(2) The film "Equity" is doing well as it continues to expand into more theaters across the country (and London). One of Lee's scenes from the movie can be viewed at the Wall Street Journal's website in an exclusive new clip
HERE. Equity's official website has
a list of theaters where the movie is currently showing or will be showing soon. Go watch Lee on the big screen if you can!
(3) Meanwhile, skimming through Equity's website, I noticed that Lee's cast bio included this bit of intriguing information:
Most recently, Lee has been recurring on hit shows such as THE AMERICANS, AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAKSHOW, and THE STRAIN.
Hmmm. Lee being on "The Strain" is news to me! The show is on FX, and its 10-episode third season just premiered last week. There's nothing about it on Lee's IMDB yet, but... unless their information is incorrect, it seems Lee will be making multiple appearances in that at some point?
(4) A couple of weeks ago, Netflix released the first 6 episodes of a new series set in the 1970s about the birth of hip-hop, "The Get Down." Lee appears in one scene in the second episode, playing a police detective taking a bribe. Here he is, sporting a wiiiiide tie and some nifty 70s sideburns:
The short scene (and his consequential brief appearance in the episode) was extremely odd in that it didn't really contribute anything to the overall plot of the episode or to the show in general. Netflix will be releasing a second batch of 6 episodes sometime next year--perhaps the storyline will be revisited then, and Lee will pop back up.
(5)
Remember my post about Lee filiming the short film "Norman Pinski Comes Home"? Its fundraising website has been updated,
including a teaser trailer! Here are some screencaps of Lee as a Dr. Frankenstein-type mad scientist:
Go listen to Lee speaking with a weird German accent!
(6) IMDB tells me that Lee has another short in post-production: "God's Good Mystery of the Disappearing Recliner." Lee is the only credited cast member, playing The Man. (Alas, there is no The Other Man, or even The Woman.) It was written/directed/produced by someone named Elisabeth Gray, and.... despite my best efforts, that's all the information on it that I could find.
(7) And finally, IMDB also tells me that Lee has a role in "The Yellow Birds," an upcoming war movie about two young Iraq War soldiers. The story focuses on one soldier's promise to the other one's mother not to let him die in the war. Jennifer Aniston plays the part of the mother, and judging by the character names, Lee will be playing the father. This movie is also in post-production, with no release date yet.
So! To summarize:
- Desert Cathedral. VOD and Party with Lee!
- Equity. Go see it now!
- The Strain. To come! Maybe!
- The Get Down. One scene is better than none!
- Norman Pinski. A trailer with Goofy Lee!
- God's Good Mystery.... I got nothing!
- The Yellow Birds. The future Mr. Jennifer Aniston!
WHEW! I think that about covers it!
