Okay so this past month has been rife with roller coasters of the self but things are looking amazing!
These past two weeks I've been applying like a mad woman to ALT positions in Japan (ALT = Assistant Language Teacher), and I've recently heard back from one company!
Now, I'm not dumb and I've done my research. Although it doesn't have the string of communication that the JET program has, it does set you up with an apartment and school/schools as well as mark things on a map like stores to go to.
The pay is also good. Nothing over the top but pretty much, if we converted my current salary to yen, it would be about the same.
The area is about 2-3 hours out side of Tokyo so I figure if I get into too much of a bind I can holler for Hokuto to come save me; which is ironic when I think about that because when he was back here that pretty much wouldn't have happened. Anyways, to make this long story short:
- I am excited
- I'm terrified of the interview
- I feel very good about this new path I'm working towards; like maybe I'll finally be doing what I'm supposed to
- Did I mention I'm terrified of the interview? I should mention it's at 6AM...I'm having my mom call me to make sure I get up so I don't miss it.
The school(s) for this position are in the Tochigi Prefecture: Ashikaga, Sano, Ota, and Oizumi. Ota is just south of Ashikaga and Oizumi...well I keep getting two different results so it's either east or south east of Utsunomiya! I think if I had an address for it there wouldn't be such confusion.
