Snake size

Um, I think they can get up to 4' long, so not very small, but still not big at all, compared to something like Boas!!
I would dearly love to get one, almost did - but I am afraid that my dogs & cats would eat it, or at least attack it, if it ever got out, possibly even when I was holding it. Probably wouldn't have even a tiny chance, and I don't like those odds for the little guy. So, I have to live my snake enjoyment vicariously through others' sake pets.
No matter what, things tend to get loose every now & again, and I'd like to think I could catch it safely - though we did manage to keep a blue-tongue skink for quite some time until we sold it to someone who knew more about them than we did and had more time and a better home for it, at least without other potential pet enemies. Blue-tongues can really get pretty threatening and startle with their bite, should they get loose, at least enough to defend themselves until recovered. The one scarlet knigsnake I held was really quite friendly, if somewhat active.
I imagine snakes may be harder to get out of the crack in the couch. At least, with the skink, all you had to do was put your hand down in there, and it would be attached firmly (& painfully) when you pulled it back up again... those buggers can bite.
