so its been over a month since ive posted here. mostly because over the last 4 weeks i have had 0 time. grad school is amazing but takes a good bit of time. i really enjoy the homework so it doenst matter that all i do is read, write and read some more. i also am getting along great with the people in my group which is a good thing because they are pretty much the only people i am going to see for the next 10 months. its been an adjustment leaving everyone at school, moving home, not seeing all the people i was used to seeing every day. leaving was pretty awful, i cried just about the entire way home, but since ive got home and gotten into my new routine its much better. plus meeting all these new people has helped. these are quite honestly the best classes i have ever taken. theres no exams, theres no memorization, were involved, were connected, were thinking and trying things every minute of ever day. 6 hour classes fly by in a way ive never experienced before and i love it. currently im going crazy trying to design a lesson plan but its slowly getting there. one of the greatest things about this is that we dont really have grades so there is no competition. we all are working together, are all in the same boat so its really awesome.

saachi and i found an apt in farmington across from the health center. its realllly nice and im excited to live there. im going to start slowly moving in a little bit at a time to avoid having a moving truck like i did when i left uconn. ill start living there in august when im done with school and getting ready for student teaching eek!

2 more weeks until SS1 is over and im going to 'squam next weekend :-)

today i also had went to mr. doyles wake. he was my elementary school principle and he was the greatest. at the end of the day he would stand next to the front door and announce the buses and say bye and high-five everyone as they left. he knew everyones name from kindergarten to 5th grade. and when you left east school he STILL knew your name, and he knew something about you. he always told me that he would hire me to teach at any school he worked at right away, no questions asked. he was the kind of principle that inspired you, that believed in you, that made you feel special no matter what. if i can instill that kind of confidence, that kind of respect, that kind of compassion in my students i will know i did a good job. the wake had an open casket and he looked the same. i havent been at east school in 11 years, i did go back to visit a few times, but its still been a number of years since ive seen him, and he looked exactly the same. thats the thing about death that is weird for me. people look exactly the same, like they are about to wake up and talk to you, but the wont. i saw a bunch of my old teachers too. my 4th grade teacher mrs dean was there, my kindergarten teacher mrs. nicholson was there, my music teacher mrs collins was there as well as the librarian, and various other teachers and people who worked at the school. they all looked exactly the same, just a little bit older, but they remembered me and logan and asked how we were and what we were up to. it was great to see them, but i wish it had been at some occasion other than mr. doyles funeral. he will be greatly missed by everyone who ever met him. he was only 65 and a heart attack took him way too soon.
