Turn 002

Leave my luck to dictate that something tries to KILL me the moment I set foot in this world.

That's about par for the course, really.

...and did you HAVE to kick me in the head?

It was spur of the moment!*sigh* Anyway. Thanks to Takato, Ruki, and Ryo-san, I'm in Tetha now. (Oh, and to that girl who helped us, thanks.) Nice to be someplace where ( Read more... )

We really should find a way to create some easily accessible database... ^^;

DATS, or Digital Accident Tactics Squad, was an organization formed back in the world my friends and I originate in to protect the public from digimon-related incidents, and ensure they were kept secret. Over time, our purpose evolved and we became dedicated to saving both worlds.

In this universe... DATS is an organization dedicated to helping support all Tamers and digimon that need help. Basically, we're a Tamer task force.

Thanks. I understand some of my friends have joined in some capacity... what would I have to do if I wanted to do the same thing?

Well, you'd just have to submit yourself for application, and decide if you wanted to be a Primary or Secondary member.

Hm... may just have to look into that, then. Thank you... ...I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name?

Thank you, then, Touma-san.

It's honestly good to see there ARE so many Tamers here who want to help protect this place. I'd like to avoid fights if possible, but... that hasn't BEEN possible for a very long time.

That seems to be a very wise philosophy... Lee-san, I assume?

Lee Jenrya, yes. Though... I'm only 12, so it's very likely you're older than me. ^^;

... Only twelve?

... You've done this before, correct? Adventured with a digimon? How far exactly did you have to go?

I mean, you're about the same age as my friend Masaru's sister... it just never ceases to surprise me...

Yeah, it all started a couple years ago, here... I'm not sure how much Ryo, Takato, or Ruki may have told you guys...

We... faced a lot of difficult things. We had to grow up fast. Learn how to decide between life and death, and... it was usually the latter, with as many Digimon we had to defeat. We fought everything from wild Digimon that appeared in our world, to one of their Gods, and a lifeless organism that wanted nothing more than the destruction of everyone and everything.

I don't know how things worked in other worlds, but our connection with our Digimon is very ... close. It got to a point where Takato, Ruki, and I could all feel our partners' pain in battle, and each of us - along with Ryo - was able to fuse our bodies with our Digimon to create their Ultimate levels. So, we each did a LOT of fighting ourselves.

...

Sorry, that may have been more information than you were asking for, Touma-san.

... It's actually very humbling, Lee-kun. But still, rather impressive.

I'm just surprised, really... so many people did what my friends and I did when we were teenagers.

I guess... I shouldn't underestimate some of our younger Tamers.

Heh, in our world there wasn't any choice. Yamaki-san - he runs an organization called Hypnos, that the government used to monitor and combat Digimon - tried to fight the Wild Ones and us in our world, but in the end could only end up helping those of us partnered with Digimon.... And the oldest one of us then was Ryo at fourteen.

So, honestly, it's kind of surprising to see so many older people as Tamers.

... It sounds like what happened with DATS really. The government needed us to fully stand up against digimon. My friend Masaru had to learn that the hard way.

[LOCKED TO TOUMA]

...I'd rather not say it out in the open to everyone, but Hypnos actually started off trying to destroy Digimon. But, thankfully, Yamaki-san learned the error of his ways.

Actually, without the weapon he created to destroy Digimon - Shaggai - we never would have defeated the D-Reaper. The lifeless world-destroying organism I mentioned earlier.

It was, you see, basically implanted into Terriermon's code.

... I see...

Perhaps we should analyze your partner, Lee-kun. See if there's any adverse affects, or anything we should know about...

...

When you say destroy, do you mean like Kurata? Deleting them permanently instead of allowing them to turn back into digi-eggs?

[LOCKED]

My father and his colleagues - they created the Digimon Core Program in my world - has pretty much given Terriermon a clean bill of health... but, it may be a good idea, just in case.

Great, more poking and prodding. Just what I want.

...

Well, Yamaki's programs... Yuggoth and Shaggai... deleted them permanently... but...

In my world, when we defeated a Digimon... we killed them. There was no coming back. That's one thing that made the choice to fight so difficult, sometimes. When a Digimon in my world dies, their data breaks down and it can be loaded into any Digimon nearby to make them stronger... but... that's it.

...

One of our friends... Katou Juri... her partner, Leomon, died during our... well, I wouldn't call it an adventure. He died saving someone else's life during all our battles.
