Don't Cry For Me Palo Alto

The truth is I never left you... Or if I did, I'm back. Yes, our house in Los Altos is no more. Well, it's still there, just full of Norwegians, and a lot less of Jarle's stuff. Goodbye horses and cows and country road. Goodbye hills and fields and eucalyptus trees. Goodbye sheep (Aggie and Morag!). Goodbye yellow bedroom. Goodbye molding I put up myself! I will miss you all.

Now we have moved to Jen's Nana's old house, over behind Gunn. It's been an interesting transition, but we've survived with most stuff and relationships intact (but goodbye purple bowl!). Jen is super-mover... I don't know what I would have done without her. I had an ugly, ugly July at work (stupid HP campaign), and no time to organize anything else in my life, to say nothing of actually moving things. Not worrying about the common areas probably saved my sanity (thank you Jen!). And work is calming down a little, and everyone seems to be appreciating the way I've been busting my ass. I was promoted a few weeks ago, which was a nice surprise, and helps me feel a little more like I'm doing something meaningful with my life. Although I can't wait for the day when I don't care what's running on the front page of Yahoo! Germany, and having something there is in no way, shape or form my responsibility. In the meantime, though, there might be travel coming up (at last!). And I have bonded with my new room, too... I painted it blue and ripped up the old carpeting to reveal the hardwood floor.
