A probe into the anus of the soul

It's probably not much of a secret that I have a tendency to jump into the first stages of an awesome long-term project, then lose interest and forget about it fairly quickly. Often this is due to a lack of money or facilities, as is the case with my Supra, and often it's simply down to a lack of motivation on my part -- I'm still only just ( Read more... )

This is a good start.

Have you read the "7 Habits of Highly Successful People"? I can't remember if I ever foisted that on you or not.

I think you did, but I don't think I ever looked further into it. However, I'm about to go on a quest to find some Aldous Huxley, so I'll look for that book too.

Every day, I try to accomplish something. If I worked, I consider that my accomplishment (especially because I work 12-24 hour days). Usually, this involves reading part of some plant/soil-related book. Sometimes, I go up to my friend C.J.'s farm to help out. Other times, it just has to do with some important, boring thing that I've been putting off. Yesterday, I got the power turned on at my new place. Today, I read a chapter of my Desert Ecology book. Tomorrow, I'm moving into my new place (and I'll probably read some more of that book, too). I should probably make more of an effort to help out on C.J.'s farm, because I can always use more hands-on learning with agriculture, but I often work so much that I need a day off from being physical. However, when I have a couple days off, I should definitely make a point of getting up to the northwest side of Tucson to help out (or out to Cascabel when the operation really gets going out there).

That's cool. I can dig the appeal of helping out on a farm (I say this as a person who has never done it, though). I've generally held stuffy factory or office jobs that didn't involve any hard physical work, and I think some would do me good. Lately I've been working in a stuffy, smoky nightclub that makes my nose run all the time, so working outdoors sounds awesome to me right now.
