Yesterday I went back to last summer.
Sort of.
We went out recruiting for circus, because our numbers are kind of low for the afternoon session. So, while Bobbye and some of the counselors stood in the middle of the neighborhood and juggled etc, I went door to door and tried to get people to sign their kids up.
It was kind of creepy how my canvassing muscle-memory kicked in. Hold your clipboard at your side, not in front of you... plant both feet firmly on the ground... give a good solid knock (yes, I instantly found myself using the same knock pattern I had developed last summer - long, long, short short short)... I even made up a little rap for myself, without even thinking about it.
Oy veh. Apparently that shit sunk in. I hope I never do it again, though.
After one neighborhood of doing that and being thoroughly unsuccessful, we just followed the ice cream truck (run by this dude who apparently comes to circus every day at lunch, and also sells drugs from out of the truck. ha!) from area to area for the rest of the night, which worked better.
I bought a choco taco.
Slept at Bobbye's last night since my room is completely overrun with boxes which I do not have the energy to unpack just yet. We watched Evan P. (evan her boyfriend, not evan her son) get drunk by himself and stayed up too late. There's nothing like being woken up by a four year old after only having slept for about 5.5 hours...
Today will probably entail - various list making, locating of equipment (like all of the juggling equipment, which no one knows where it is), prep for training tomorrow... plus the usual Oddfellows chaos. Yesterday, there was a point where literally everyone in the building was gathered in the hallway trying to figure out how to build these small platforms for circus.
AND... the first rehearsal for my stint as stage manager of a production of Godspell at a Catholic church. Oh man, please let this be as amusing as I anticipate it being
