Missoula queers.

Went out last night to this dance thing sponsored by a group at the University. Basically it was the equivalent of the Lambda dances we all used to go to in high school and goodness me, basically nothing has changed since I was 15 years old.

Things that are different:
1) They card now
2) It is more expensive

Things that are the same:
1) the people. No, really. The same people who have been at these things since I was 15 are still attending. Don't they want to graduate or something?
2) The music - techno in one room, retro disco business in another
3) The lack of girls - girls at all, and especially queer ones
4) Afterwards, they all go to Finnegans (ok, I admit I know this because I also went, but it was late and I was hungry and this is Missoula so it was the only place open)
5) It's still fun to dance about with friends
6) Lots of boys who are too drunk wander around, and they're the same boys I've seen get too drunk at these things over and over again...

Missoula queer scene is weird. It's so small, and everyone is so afraid of what might happen to them at any moment... it's a distressing dynamic.
