Last Saturday I spent the day at Pride Rhode Island in my former hometown of Providence, RI. It was a gorgeous day, and
aishabintjamil and
peragrine joined me at the Torquere Press-sponsored table to hawk GLBT romances of every genre and pairing. It was a gorgeous day, and we had a steady stream of visitors. Some just wanted to grab swag and move on, but many stayed to talk, ask questions, peruse the books, and even buy.
There was a great crowd, good music, yummy food, and fantastic energy.
I saw a few folks I knew, and my stepson and sons came down for the illuminated nighttime parade in the evening, which was a blast. The floats were a trip, as always, but I have to say the most exciting part of the evening was seeing huge contingents (each easily in the 100s) of GLBT youth, political activists, old guard, and allies marching and cheering. We skipped the afterparties (my kids are too young yet) and didn't stay overnight for the drag brunch, but still...
...I love Pride!
See too many pix below the cut!
(nor am I a photographer -- I don't know how to edit a cut tag!)
Cheers,
