She had run away from him. Left him lying nude in the brush of her "imaginary" home. What they had done there though wasn't imaginary and he'd thought it meant as much to her as it had to him. She'd yelled her love into the sky too. Although in retrospect she'd proceeded the yell with an abortive squeak. When he reflected on it now he should have deep down realized her doubts, what that sound she had made really meant. She had laughed at him too. Did she think he wasn't serious?

He got up shivering in the cold and dressed leaving his blouse hanging open. The walk back to the encampment would have been pleasant enough in the early morning sun if, if she'd been with him. She wasn't though and as he got closer a sense of foreboding started to rise in his gut. Why wasn't she still with him? Where had she gone? He started to think what he would do when he found her. It wouldn't do to get angry. She'd run from him into another's arms before. His reaction hadn't been the smartest move of his entire life. So what should he do this time? He had to find her first.

Instead he found his father, who proceeded to crush him unknowingly with the news. Kara had married Sam Anders while he lay sleeping in the field. At first his reaction was disbelief. Surely she wouldn't have? As his father continued to talk about it though, oblivious to his horror at the notion, the truth of it sank in. He felt like he'd been stabbed in the gut. After her night with him, after all they'd shared, she'd run off and married someone else? He needed a place to go hide and lick his wounds.

Of course that would be the moment when the two of them would appear, walking down the street toward him, their arms slung around each other. What could he do now, he was trapped. While his exchange of words with them was cordial enough he couldn't resist the small dig, ostensively directed at Sam but really at her. Nor did he miss the opportunity to brush past her disdainfully as he walked away.

Then there on the Raptor ready and waiting was Dee. He could use another to hurt too, so he drew her to him for a kiss. It wasn't her he was paying attention too. Even she knew that. If it allowed him to save face in this confused world though he would. Two could play at this game of love and hurt just as well as one. Four would make it something worthy of Starbuck and Apollo, anyone else jumping into the quagmire was fair game.
