It was a sunny day on New Alderaan and Lee no that isn't right, or is it? Where was I going with this story?
A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...well it was 50 years ago and actually it was just outside of Caprica City. No that doesn't work either.
Anyway Lee just didn't want anything to do with Kara right now. Angry couldn't describe it well enough, he was livid right now. Where did she get off...? Alright so maybe the Clown Training School had been his pet project, and maybe the funding grant from the CIA had fallen through but was that his fault?
He'd certainly been willing to send some of their brightest young people off to spy school. They were safe here. They needed to contribute something to protecting this place, needed to be among the watchers of the enemy this time. Not just send an emissary once a year and ignore it when they didn't come to the table. Look what that had gotten them the first time.
Anyway he was angry and he'd said no and still she was pursuing him. She wanted to play a little game of tickle and kiss and he wasn't having any. She thought he was being coy when he told her he had work to do. Well he really wasn't, even though for once in his life since taking on the Presidency he really didn't. It was something their hosts called Black Friday and everybody was off shopping anyway.
Except Kara, well actually she was shopping, shopping for him. He'd really meant it when he'd told her to go away though. He walked into his office, put out the "Do Not Disturb" sign, and shut the door firmly. Flipping the deadbolt lock with the key he removed that and slipped it into his pocket.
He pulled down one of the journals of his life that he'd started writing and began flipping through the section on his triumphs. He'd singlehandidly destroyed the tylium refinery, triumph! He led the team that had defeated the Cylons before they could reach Secondary Damage control, triumph! He'd convinced the prisoners to quarry the ice, triumph! He'd gotten his way with the Black Market, well ok those last two weren't exactly triumphs.
He'd been able to hole up here though. Until he'd looked up and Kara was standing above him with her hands on her hips and a smirk on her face. She knew what he'd put in this book. "I said no!" he repeated but the anger was now gone at least. This was just a final weak protest and he knew he was lost when he saw the determination in her eyes.
"Oh, yeah, you'd just love to think you are a superstar. Can't even set a deadbolt properly." He knew he'd done it right. He guessed "Get lost!" meant he would have locked *both* entrances to his office.
He set the journal aside and looked up at her his face all innocence. "So what are you going to do about it?" She didn't need any more of an invitation.
