Playful!Lee

The scene with Kara and Lee and the pyramid ball is one that I think about with great affection. It portrays a lighthearted, teasing Lee and he is just adorable. It shows an aspect to his character that I don't think they every really showed again (well, maybe with the creepy doll, but, well...creepy). I understand that BSG is a dark show, but this ( Read more... )

Actually, they do show it again when he's skipping around Joe's Bar and playing that game of "home pyramid" with Racetrack and smooching with Dee. Beginning of The Woman King?

Overall I really wish the show had had more lighter moments esp. as it progressed. I'm so glad the networks asked for that with Colonial Day and disappointed that even though they asked for it with Taking a Break, it ended up being the most emo and angsty episode of all time (blame EJO maybe).

It would have been great if they'd explored more of Lee's poor playful side. Especially since he seems so delightfully awkward about it. Inept confession of love and creepy dolls, the drunken good-bye speech in SoO. A lighter version of TAB with a cute socially fumbling Lee, instead of super emo Lee would have been wonderful.

Besides the scene Taragel mentioned, I guess we could include the helmet painting scene and the deleted scene (where he teases Kara to get her to run while she is still recovering from her knee injure , with chanting and all) in the short list. Perhaps the crutches of hell scene, as well? And what about the dancing in UB?

There were really too few of those. And that is too bad. The poor guy deserved a break from all the angst. :(

Considering back in the mutiny arc in season 2, the pilots made a point of asking about when he would return to the triad games or something, such moments must have happened from time to time. One more thing for fanfic to fill in the blanks. *shrugs*

I thought I heard that the end part of the scene was ad libbed by Jamie and Katee (the "you're dreaming" bit, specifically), but there are other playful bits to it that I do wish we had seen more of. There should have been more hose fights on Cloud 9 and general pigtail pulling. :)

I've also always liked Lee's playful side, and I enjoy the scenes everyone has mentioned very much. There are a few other moments, just small lines rather than whole scenes, where he just dropped in some unexpected bit of humor that made me smile. I like it at the end of A Day in the Life when he walks in and kisses Dee and she says "Your father sent you a package" and he looks at it in mild alarm and says, "Is it ticking?" That little three-second exchange is, bar none, my favorite moment between them as a couple.
