Daily Dose: Take It Easy

Jun 08, 2009 11:00

Another slow, quiet day. Dawn had to work, but she's not feeling good, so I'm not sure if she'll make it through the whole day. We're in need of the money, but I wish I could have kept her home, just to make sure it doesn't get any worse. I'd rather be broke than have Dawn sick. I really need to find work, if for no other reason than to give Dawn the opportunity to take time off when she's not feeling well.

I have to pick up more dry cat food. Probably need to look into the wet cat food situation too, but that involves a trip across town. As it is, we usually pick up two bags of different dry cat foods to give Vlad a healthier diet while still giving him the junk food kibble he craves.

As you may have noticed, I'm playing hammer dulcimer videos this morning. Paul, a friend over on the Adventure Gamer forums, linked us to a video of an amazing player named Dizzi, and I'm just listening to the other tracks she has uploaded to Youtube. Some lovely stuff. She also does a number of duets with her sister, and it's very relaxing stuff, but sounds really cool too.

I should probably take care of Dawn's jewelcrafting daily before I get caught up in Bride again. I'm almost finished converting the novel to yWriter file. I'm down to the epilogue. So I should actually start in on the rewrites today or tomorrow. This time it's really going to change. I've got it all broken up into little sections, which really makes the whole task seem less difficult, and I can navigate to trouble sections with ease. I find myself wishing I'd had something like this program from the start, though I have yet to try writing anything new in it, so I'm not sure how much I'll like it for creative work. I may just continue to use it as an editing tool.

We finished with Criminal Minds last night. I actually still have a few episodes to watch that I missed because I was helping with a run (I've forgotten which one, though I think it may have been Onyxia) that Dawn didn't join us for until later--when she asked what was taking us so long. Not sure when I'll get around to watching those episodes I missed. Overall, I've liked Criminal Minds. It's got some really strong writing and acting, and the dialogue is pretty cool most of the time. I suppose the show just brings me down and upsets me a little too often, so it's not something I'm feeling a burning urge to see at this point. I think I preferred it when Mandy was still on the show. Somehow he just made it feel a little warmer. Joe Mantegna is really great too, but his character is a little more cynical, so it's not as charming. Funny at times, but not as warm, so I disconnect a bit. Anyway, I'm sure we'll be checking it out next season. That cliffhanger ending demands it.

After CM, we watched 42nd Street, which had me laughing in all the wrong places. Take that for what it's worth.

Can't think of anything else that needs to be said. It's a crummy day today, so if you're going out, take a jacket or at least a sweater. Take care.

Lee.
