Poltergeist & Paper Bouquet

Anime and music post.

A song popped into my head this morning. It took me a little while to remember the title: Kojima Mayumi's Poltergeist from her 2003 album Ai no Poltergeist. The song was later used as the opening song for the TV anime Ghost Hound in 2007.

Ghost Hound was produced by Production I.G. with original concept by Production I.G. and Shirow Masamune of Ghost in the Shell fame. The anime reunited Serial Experiments Lain director Nakamura Ryutaro and script writer Konaka Chiaki. The series was a strange blend of the paranormal, psychology, science and a coming-of-age story. I remember the anime being quite opaque. It's been years since I last watched it, however, so perhaps I could get more out of it now than I did years ago.

(Fun fact: Listen to Ono Kensho in his very first anime protagonist role as Komori Taro. At the time, he was best known as the Japanese voice of Daniel Radcliffe in the Harry Potter series.)

I'm watching Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road right now. It's a somewhat different take on the isekai genre. The story itself reminds me a little of Noir, though the style is completely different. It also has one of the best opening songs this season: Mili's Paper Bouquet.

Been watching a lot of black-and-white movies. Might or might not talk about it later.
