Kuroko no Basuke

Watched Kuroko no Basuke OVA 4 (i.e., ep. 75.5) and the Last Game film. They tie up the anime series quite nicely, complete with ribbon and all. Both the OVA and the film are essentially fanservice for fans who want to see the Generation of Miracle being friends and teaming up to play basketball again. That said, I think the OVA and the film also serve a greater purpose of tying up some of the emotional/relationship loose ends that aren't quite resolved in the main series.

(All right, I confess I just really want to see Kise and Aomine talking to each other or at the very least appearing in the same shot.)

Although Last Game is an adaptation of Extra Game, there are a few differences. For one, Mayuzumi shows up in the film, whereas he's nowhere to be found in Extra Game. It's worth seeing him smile when he never did so in the main series.

(Mayuzumi is quite an interesting character, so grounded and cynical in a series where eccentrics and romantics are the norm, though he would be right at home in the light novel universe where Suzumiya Haruhi's Kyon and OreGairu's Hachiman exist. Besides, Mayuzumi/Akashi is my other favourite KuroBasu pairing after Aomine/Kise.)

The last bit after the match also doesn't exist in the manga version. That scene at the airport could have been lifted from a J-drama. It's not on the level of the airport scene in Yuri on Ice, but it's close.

I really should go back and watch season 2 and 3.
