Weekly News Overload

For some reason, there's been an explosion of anime news lately (because of Otakon?); I expect there'll be even more news when C86 comes around, which will take place this Friday.

MangaGamer will be localising The House in Fata Morgana, a Gothic doujin visual novel created by Novectacle, originally released at C83 (December of 2012). The art style is reminiscent of Karin's Animamundi: Dark Alchemist, which was localised by Hirameki.

I'm actually a little surprised that they pick this one out of all the others, since I was under the impression that this game was not that well known in the English-speaking world. Then again, the game gets a manga adaptation and two novels written by the game scenario writer, so perhaps it's a lot more popular than I thought. What little I've heard of the soundtrack is dark, moody and melancholic -- just my kind of music.

The other surprise of the week in the gaming world is Jupiter ~The Night Clowns~, a game-in-development based on the doujin music project "Jupiter: The Phantom Thieves", comprised of four female vocalists, Yuna, Hiyama Riku, aya*k and Yuizuki Sora, with Kahan responsible for music composition and Monaka Tomohiro for character design. Their first album was released at M3-28, and I liked it a lot. Anyway, the first trailer of the game has been released recently.

Of course, this being based on a doujin music project means they are pulling in quite a few composers to work on the game. Other than the aforementioned Kahan, there's also Funczion's Marica (probably because she's collaborating with Yuizuki Sora on something for C86?) and Una (used to be in tinkerbell sound label, but left the group in 2013). I'm sure the four vocalists will be back to sing the theme songs. Now if only they are going to provide the voice for the characters as well...

One more thing before I go to bed. The trailer for the potential anime OVA Under the Dog sure looks action-packed. The details are all here, so I don't have to repeat myself. The Kickstarter page is here.
