Every once in a while, fluff is good.
What would happen if Harry Potter is turned into an anime? The following fanmade anime video is one possibility. According to the creator, 70% of the visual is traced from Yuruyuri (30% are self-drawn), though most viewers seem to believe the character design resembles something produced by Kyoto Animation (and I don't blame them for thinking that way). The presentation and the song come from the opening sequence of Baccano.
Most of the characters are in their Hogwarts years. Beware of excessive cuteness, OOC-ness, "blink and you'll miss it" moments, a very large cast, and boys who look like girls.
Here is the
link.
The golden trio and their friends. I'm having a deja vu as soon as I see Harry. Nice earring, Luna.
What happened to you, Harry? Why the cute pose? Not that it isn't adorable...
Percy looks studious and a bit lost here. Bill looks like a girl with the ponytail; he reminds me of that picture of him on Pottermore. Charlie is such a good little brother to Bill. It's nice to see the three older Weasley siblings together like this.
How many crepes are George and Fred planning to eat? Or are they buying for everyone? So nice of George to offer crepes to his twin and to Lee Jordan. Is Lee wearing glasses here?
I can't believe Stanley Shunpike is in this too. He looks like a kid cosplaying as a conductor.
Seamus is so energetic and weird...
Hogwarts Quidditch team captains... I don't remember the Ravenclaw captain's name at all. Don't hit him, Marcus. And don't hit Marcus with the bat, Oliver.
The Maurauders get their own stage, complete with spotlight -- and all of them are dead by the end of book 7... James is grinning while Sirius is showing his cool side. The scars on Remus' face are movie-only, aren't they? Peter's pose is just plain odd. What do you think you are posing for anyway?
George and Fred come out to dance.
Blink and you'll miss the next part. The three girls from the Gryffindor Quidditch team. The Hufflepuffs. The Ravenclaws. Fred and George are far too cute here. This version of Cho resembles a model student. It's nice to see Luna full of smile.
Compared to the Hufflepuffs and the Ravenclaws, the Slytherins (well, not Pansy) really look like the bad boy gang. Ah, Draco with that look and that little smirk -- I like that. Crabbe and Goyle are eating meat buns... Well, it's anime. Blaise is looking great, though the creator of the video spelled his name wrong. Theodore is this good looking and this tall (he's taller than Blaise and Draco)? He's still his silent, sullen self though.
Yeah, the cute little "girl" with the black hair and green eyes and flustered expression is Severus. Lily looks older than he is. Regulus doesn't look much like his brother.
Tom is actually quite handsome in this one. He is sitting on his throne and looks as if he owns the world. His clothes look a little dishevelled though. Right, the signature of villainy is dishevelled clothes (in this video anyway)...
Now we know where the Weasley twins get their hyper-ness from -- from their dear old dad. We only get to see the back of Kingsley's head, and it's light blue. Arthur chatting with Lucius about rubber duck... Talk about a scene you don't see everyday. Lucius looks a little bewildered here, and I don't blame him. Shouldn't his hair be blond instead of grey? He does have long hair though, so I'm not complaining.
Narcissa is cute; Bellatrix looks like a delinquent; Andromeda seems friendly.
How nice to see the Dumbledore siblings and Gellert relaxing by the sea. See that cute kid with the long auburn hair and glasses? Yup, that's Albus the future headmaster. Gellert is more or less how I imagined he would be. Unlike the others, he's not wearing a Hogwarts uniform. Aww, Ariana is smiling and Aberforth is talking (somewhat amiably) to his brother.
Colin and Dennis are taking pictures of the Gryffindors. There are too many redheads that I can't tell which Weasley is which. I think the ones in the second picture are Bill and Charlie. Percy, the twins and Ginny are in the third one. And then comes the golden trio. Ron's making a face at the camera, and Harry looks a little stoic. I suspect they are going for the comedy duo thing here. Ron is the funny man, Harry is the straight man, and Hermione is the outsider (?).
Even the four founders are in the video. Godric's hair is a little long. Pretty Rowena and cute Helga (nice hat and nice beaver (??) cup... it looks like a bear). Salazar is a long-haired beauty (Lucius actually looks like him), but it looks like Godric is pointing the sword at him off-screen...
The next generation kids. Another "blink and you'll miss it" section. I had to rewatch it twice before I caught James and Al's names. James is basically Harry with brown eyes (or you could say he looks like James Senior), and strangely enough, Al doesn't resemble Harry that much, other than his eyes and his hair colour. Are you sure he's not Severus' son? Or Harry and Draco's son (???)... Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Nice hair clip, Hugo. Victoire looks so cool, but Teddy is clearly embarassed.
Rose has Hermione's hair. Scorpius looks more or less like his dad, except friendlier? I didn't notice he's tied his hair back until I pressed pause. Is he copying his grandfather's hair style? They skipped a generation with the whole long hair thing...
More of Fred and George dancing around in Hogwarts. The background looks a little cartoonish but nice overall. Wait, did I just spot an old computer in one of the rooms?
The end.
It's a nice video, particularly when you think about how many characters in the video have died by the end of the series. I counted 22 (wasn't too sure about the Hufflepuffs and the Ravenclaws). How about you?
