CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Remy LeBeau/Gambit Marvel Comics
In-Game Name: Remy LeBeau
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Position & Ship (first and second choice for position please): Seaman, or Cook-4423
Appearance: Remy is ruggedly handsome, almost always has an easy going smile on his face and a relaxed manner in his body language. He has short brown hair that reaches to about his ears, tan skin, and stands at a tall 6’ 2” weighing 180 pounds. One of his most distinctive physical traits however is his eyes. Unlike a normal person’s Remy’s eyes are black where they should be white, and the pigment is a bright red which sometimes seems to almost be glowing. They are also are the one obvious give away to his demihuman heritage.
As for clothes Remy usually wears a long brown jacket, a loose white long sleeved shirt, with black pants, boots, and also wears gloves with the thumb, index, and pinky fingers cut out on both hands. It’s also not unusual for someone to regularly spot Remy smoking cigarettes around the ship.
Personality: Remy Lebeau is the kind of guy that will walk up to a person on a street, be one of the most charming people they’ve ever met, and rob them blind without them noticing till Remy’s miles away. He’s very much the charmer especially to almost any woman, and despite his odd eyes most women usually fall for his gentleman like yet still roguish manner, good looks, and his ability say all the right things. In general Remy is very sociable always seemingly with a smile on his face and ready to have a good time.
Remy also loves to take a challenge whether it’s to convince a girl to love him, or steal from one of the most prominent museums of Ivona. That’s one of the reason’s Remy loves stealing, not necessarily always for the monetary value, but because it can always be a challenge. Although the money is always a nice perk.
At first glance Remy can seem very cocky and at times just generally too relaxed that it can be interpreted as laziness, but he does have a more serious side. Remy cares for his friends and his family greatly, which made the fact that they banished him that much more difficult. He also can show a temper when someone personally insults him or his skills, but it usually takes a lot, and generally he can brush them off. Another big part of Remy is his sense of humor, he’ll generally try and crack jokes during a fight or argument, and will make fun of just about anything even himself at times.
Abilities/Weapons: Remy has almost peak human agility, and is a very experienced hand to hand combatant. His most extraordinary ability is that he can willingly charge any inorganic object with a touch of his bare fingers. When he charges an object he excites the molecules of the object changing its potential energy into kinetic energy this extra energy caused the object to glow a pinkish color, and once the charged object hits something it explodes. His favorite objects to charge are playing cards and he regularly has several decks on him. He’s also very skilled with a bo-staff and always carries an extendable one on his belt.
Weaknesses: Remy is human and can be hurt if he manages to get hit. Do to confidence and readiness to take risks, Remy also can sometimes get himself in over his head although he’d never admit it.
With his powers the explosion is relative to the size of the object. For example one charged playing card probably has the force of cherry bomb while something like a paperclip might have the force of a firecracker and something as large as a canon charged would take out a good portion of the ship. Remy also can only charge inorganic items, and can’t charge people, animals, or plants. He also can only charge an object with bare skin contact of his fingers. The glowing pink energy signature can also be a signal to enemies that know him and his skills that he's about to throw a small bomb at them.
The size of the object can also be a factor in how long it takes for him to charge. Most small and medium sized objects like articles of clothing and a gun he charge almost instantly or in a few seconds, but the larger the object is the more time it takes. A very large object such as an airship or building would probably take minutes or hours and would totally exhaust him, but Remy is nervous about charging anything too large for fear of the resulting explosion. Remy also tends to stick to just charging smaller objects because he can charge more of them faster and without using as much energy.
History: Remy was orphaned as a baby in Kropmork and as a child was kicked out of the orphanage due to his eye color and supposed demihuman heritage. Remy then grew up on the streets and during the time had to learn to steal to survive. When he was around ten, one faithful day Remy tried to pickpocket Jean-Luc LeBeau a very prominent member of the Thieves Guild. LeBeau saw something special in Remy and decided to adopt him. Remy quickly found himself as part of the family and quickly grew fond of his new father, and brother, Henri. As part of the LeBeau family Remy quickly had to go through training to become a member of the Thieves Guild. He learned not only skills to help him become a great thief, but he also had to learn great fighting skills because the Thieves Guild had a rival in the Assassins’ Guild.
Despite this rivalry Remy met and quickly fell in love with one of the prominent members of the Assassins’ Guild’s daughter Bella Donna Boudreaux. Seeing this as an opportunity to bring peace between the Guilds the fathers agreed that Remy and Bella Donna could be married when they were eighteen. The day of their wedding, just after the ceremony, Bella Donna’s brother Julien opposed the marriage and challenged Remy to a duel. During the stress of the duel Remy’s powers activated, and he accidentally charged a piece of Julien’s clothing and the resulting explosion killed him. To prevent war within the Guilds after Julien’s death Remy was banished from the Thieves Guild and his family.
The next few years with no home Remy ended up jumping from ship crew to ship crew, looking for new challenges, and when things got boring just moving on.
