[Okay, so between everything that's been happening lately, Richard ALMOST forgot what date was coming up. Fortunately he remembers just in time to actually do something about it-- and do something about it he will whether Isamu wants it or not, which is why he's carefully filtering this message away from his friend.]For those of you who know him, ( Read more... )

[While looking around in the stores for Christmas gifts for his housemates, Otonashi notices some guy with a box. A big box. That is a big box, Richard. And so he'll walk on over.]

Hey, do you need help with that?

[Richard looks up, a smile spreading across his face as he recognizes the young man who had been so baffled by his goat.]

I wouldn't want to trouble you.

[...Oh that's... the goat guy. The guy with the goat, yeah. Richard, was it? (Assuming they'd end up introducing themselves in that thread anyway..)]

It's not a problem! It looks kinda heavy, so... And I'm not really doing much right now, anyway.

If you're certain...

... then who am I to say no?

[Don't mind him just plopping the box in your arms then, Otonashi.

... don't worry, he'll take it back in just a moment.]

Yeah, so don't worry about it--

[Oh. Oh. This is actually even more heavy than it looked. Otonashi struggles a bit with it but... He's totally got this, okok. But... take it back whenever you want, Richard! Ahaha...]

Geez, what's in here?

[Fortunately Richard will take pity on him after a couple of moments of wobbling and take the box back, balancing it against his own hip. He may be a troll but he's not mean and making Otonashi fall over is not in his plans.]

Just a few Christmas decorations for the house, along with some birthday decorations for a friend. Of course, the second part is supposed to be a surprise.

[That would be terribly cruel of you, Richard... Otonashi lets out a sigh of relief when he takes it back though.]

"A few"? "Some"? It sure feels like a lot more than that... You're throwing a surprise birthday party for your friend then?

[Don't worry, he fully intends to carry it himself. He's stronger than he looks, really.]

Yes, I thought he deserved something nice after all of the chaos lately, and he would never agree to a party otherwise.

[Macho, macho man! Otonashi's actually pretty surprised to see how easily Richard's carrying that, but... Owell.]

Oh, that's really nice of you to be doing that for him. How are you going to pull it off though? Since surprise parties are sometimes hard to keep, well.. a surprise.

[AS MACHO AS A GUY WHO WEARS RUFFLES AND THIGH-HIGH BOOTS CAN BE.]

I was hoping I would be able to get one of my housemates to distract him while I set it up, though I'm not sure I trust all of them to be in on the secret beforehand. Some of them aren't the best at keeping secrets.

[I don't know about you, but that sounds pretty macho to me.]

Hmmm... You could try having it some place other than your house though, couldn't you?

Do you mean somewhere like the rec center or the barracks?

[He chuckles lightly.]

I think turning it into a big affair would make him even less pleased with the idea.

Ohhh gotcha. I can understand that.

[May as well laugh along with him!]

You sure you're fine with carrying that though? It'd probably be easier if you divided it into two boxes.

Two boxes...

[He ponders this for a moment.]

Perhaps, but that might also end up making it more awkward trying to juggle two boxes instead of one.

...Oh, right. In that case, two bags? One for each hand.

[Like bringing in groceries!]

[And he smiles!]

That's an excellent idea-- I can't believe I didn't think of that myself. Now, where in the store would we be able to find bags that would be suitable...
