[It started out as a normal day-- if it can be called "normal" considering that two of his housemates are currently about eight years younger than usual, but fairly uneventful regardless. The "keep Asbel from getting himself or Hubert killed" duties were passed back and forth between him and Cheria as needed until finally he managed to escape and ( Read more... )

[Hmm, Sophie. Sophie. Ah- The annoying girl who greeted her upon first coming here.]

A curious one, wasn't she? It does some good to cycle through the blooms every now and then.

Curious, but that's what made her so very special. May I ask your name?

Well yes, special is one word that certainly comes to mind. [Though hardly in the sense Richard means it.] Ask and you shall receive. Yuuka Kazami.

Richard. It's a pleasure to meet you, though I wish it weren't under these circumstances. Did you know her well, Miss Yuuka?

Indeed. Despite these events it is a pleasure all the same Richard~ [Hmm. Not at all, they only had one conversation...] Yes, terribly. She would often visit my gardens and spend time here. [Lets get some lies going.]

I'm not surprised to hear that-- Sophie loves flowers a great deal. I suppose that's only to be expected of someone who was named after a flower from our world.

Well then, that might explain why she was drawn to me when I first arrived these few months back. After all, I am a youkai of flowers through and through. [How on earth does someone get 'Sophie' from a flower though?] A flower which I can only assume is specific to your world alone, unless the bloom in question is named gypsophila paniculata.

Yes, the name of this particular flower is the krosophie, and as far as I can tell it seems to exist only in our world. The petals are purple, much like Sophie's hair... truly a fitting name for her.

But might I ask what a youkai is? That's something we don't have in our world, unless they go by another name.

Strange, a flower which I have never before heard of or come across. Though if it resides solely in your own world then it cannot be helped~

A youkai is what you are talking to right now. The humans in the village in my world used to regard myself and other youkai as quite dangerous. I believe we have even been called demons or monsters at one time or another.

Regardless of what others believe, I hardly think a real demon or monster would be holding such a civil discussion with me right now. At least, none of the monsters of the type we have in my world would do so.

But of course a real demon or monster wouldn't bother with idle chatter. It is truly the strongest of youkai which decide to take the time to while away the hours with a little conversation. Were the monsters in your world mere brutish thugs, I wonder.

Most of them weren't even capable of communicating with humans, so determining a level of intelligence was difficult. But if their behavior was any indication, "brutish thugs" would be an apt description for most of them.

[... wouldn't it? He's starting to wonder just how intelligent they actually are.]

If they lack the ability to reach even a basic level communication then brutish thugs they shall be. Never mind~ Perhaps in a few years they will bide their time and become something more respectable, but until then the title they have been given shall remain.

Are they truly thugs if they are capable of intelligent communication among themselves, however?
