What if I got a tattoo? Friends at work were talking about them and I kind of want one! I also kind of hate pain...but it'd be interesting. What should I get and where?

I have a peace dove in tribal black on my right shoulder blade and I love it and I have never regretted it. My father's wife is a tattoo artist- she's also native american so it's an important part of her culture she didn't want to leave behind.
My younger brother has one, and so does my husband, and the key for all of us was first to know something that was important enough that we wouldn't be inclined to change our minds later. Something that could define meaning for us, or at least mark a moment in time.
The peace dove for me was a commitment to peace. I'm a pacifist. I wanted to remember that, I wanted to remember why. AND, if I do say so myself, the tatoo is beautiful.

My little brother got a recreation of Leonardo DaVinci's "The Vitruvian Man" on much of his upper back. THAT was a commitment. And...it turned out magnificently. He's brilliant though...he wanted a reminder of his dedication to the merging of art, science and academia.
and it very much suits him and his personality.

Chose a design, and once you are ABSOLUTELY HAPPY WITH IT sleep on it for 6 months. If you're still ABSOLUTELY HAPPY WITH IT have the artist place it somewhere that you ca easily cover it up if you need to for work or whatever.
that's why I put mine on my shoulder blade.
