my gods, didn't realise that little story had so much interest, heh - its one of the less-commented upon works I've got on LJ. Anyhow, see above.
Incarceration? hmm.
The marine comes down to stick some hapless maintenance guy in the brig for being drunk on duty (poor Ordinance and Maintenance guys! In my BSG universe, they get all the shitty roles) and finds Kara curled up on the bunk and Lee sitting next to her; they're both asleep and a little closer than he'd have thought. He wakes them up and lets them out, half expecting Starbuck to threaten him with eternal humiliation at her hands if he mentions it to anyone, but she just seems tired. Apollo, on the other hand, has a few words to say about not checking on the status of the brig after releasing an occupant, and the marine (glad to get off so lightly, ie, no Starbuck reprisals) is just as happy to forget that they were ever there, even when he gets a little surprise cleaning up Kara's cell.
A few days later though there's a snippet of gossip through Galactica about the two top pilots sparring in the gym and things getting a little less like boxing and a little more like wrestling, and he wonders about it. A week after that, people are commenting on how frequently you can't find the CAG these days, or Starbuck either. By the time someone actually catches them in a clinch, people are sure they've been frakking for months, but poor Marine Dude, who found Kara's knickers in the crevice between her cell bunk and the wall, can't get anyone to believe him. It's old news.
I think Closed Doors lends itself to this meme, because the ending is so angsty.
I especially liked the continuation for Trophy, when Kara has to beg for her bra back. And the poor Marine - he didn't realize he could have won the pool!
