*One figure approaches another on a windswept mountain top. The first a human, barely more than a boy. The second stands, a construct of arcane symbols and numbers. The second speaks.*

"What are you doing here? You are not worthy to pass this gate. A programmer, and an artistic one at that." *The figure spits to the side, a series of integers splattering on the dry rocks*

"I don't want to be here any more than you want me to be here. But we both know I have no choice." *The human lowers his hood and removes a pencil from his pack*

"Foolish mortal. I have beaten greater men than you." *Two throwing stars fly out of nowhere at the boy, only to bounce off of an invisible shield. The boy holds up a graphing calculator.*

"It will take more than a random formula to down me."

"I see you came prepared for the usual tricks. But what about my combined attack?" *The construct grins, crouches and focuses, then lashes out* "RATIONAL DERIVITIES!" *Again throwing stars fly out of the abyss, this time halting inches from the boy's face, only to drop to the ground and crumble to dust.* "What??"

"I kept my old calculator that translates fractions to decimal. Your parlor tricks won't work against me." *The boy grins, holding the smaller calculator in one hand and pencil in the other.* "Let me pass."

"Never." *The construct stands, growing to twice it's original height and growing a second set of arms in the shape of integrals. The human clicks his mechanical pencil and zeroes out his calculator, and grins defiantly.*

*In a flash of light, the two rush each other, collide in a burst of exponents and natural logs, and collapse. The echo frightens flocks of birds in the trees.*

And that's how my Calculus final went.
