College, ch. 6

I found the anime club. Part of me thinks that's all that needs to be said, but I'll extrapolate for posterity's sake.

I'd fallen back into world of warcraft hard. So much, in fact, that I skipped going to a couple other club meetings that seemed like they might be interesting. It should be pointed out that WoW serves as an excuse in this instance, something familiar to cling to in the midst of all this newness. So I showed up late to the first meeting on thursday. By the time I had found the club room, they had started the movie, so I didn't meet anyone. Ah My Goddess, or Oh, I forget which. It's the one with motorcycle sidecar racing, and I love it. Afterwards, I sat in the corner and waited to see what else might happen. I signed the piece of paper with everyones names, but people weren't especially volunteering, and I certainly wasn't going to make the first move. However, someone suggested that they all go have pizza, and I hadn't had dinner. So I joined the group to walk there.

What followed was my reconnection to nerd-dom in this town. We walked across campus, making nerd jokes. I ate at the girls end of the table, and we talked of cons and musicals and yaoi. We walked back, making Portal jokes and went home in groups for safety's sake.

Friday was more WoW, I burned a copy of Windows 7, blah blah blah. Saturday was the anime club kickoff barbecue in the park, and my life had purpose once again.

So I showed up, bringing no food because I didn't know what to bring. I ended up getting help and going to the store, returning with soda, and was a hero to all. We ate charred mammal flesh and talked of things for three hours, before the wasps and drunkards in the park started to get to me. It turns out this club meets on monday and thursday, so there should be more of the same today.

I haven't recieved my government money yet, and I'm nearing broke status (though my father says he can back me up until it comes in), and I don't know how to do this "trigonometry" of which my calculus teacher keeps speaking. The rest is all falling into place.
