I am now officially enrolled in classes for college.
Now to get an apartment, and money to pay for both the apartment and the classes.
Last week was a whirlwind. I decided, on a whim, to hang out with my best friend for the weekend. I ended up staying over on sunday night as well, as I was too tired to drive back home, and we had a D&D game to play the next evening anyway. The game lasted until 1 AM, and I drove home. I woke up late Tuesday and began cleaning, only to be invited out on a boat on the river by my brother and cousin. I got back late from that, finished cleaning just in time for one of my friends from washington to arrive by car. I couldn't get to sleep, and finally crashed at about 1 AM. Wednesday we drove around a bit, had a late breakfast and talked until his significant other arrived, again by car, also from washington. I attempted to get to bed on time.
Thursday I had to get up at 7 to pick up my other friend from Washington at the airport. The four of us hung out, talked, and walked around the park for a bit, then us guys played Diablo 2 for a while. Friday the first two left, and the last one and I drove down to play games with my best friend. We played Battletech and D&D until 4 AM, when they crashed and I curled up in a sleeping bag, completely unable to sleep due to lack of pillows and too much caffeine. Friend from Washington #2's brother drove down from sacramento and the four of us went to a video arcade to play in simulators for a while. We had lunch, played a bit of Super Smash Brothers, and said our goodbyes. I drove back home.
From there I ate dinner, packed, and drove to the town my college is in. Just over two hours, not huge. I got up at 7 to attend the orientation, which got me signed up for classes, an ID card, and a bunch of paperwork. Then I went on a three hour foot tour of the area immediately surrounding the campus to find apartment complexes. My father requested my presence in the capitol two hours to the south the next day, throwing off my plans to apply for rent. Feet well blistered, I went to bed. Woke up at 7 again, drove two hours, helped set up a DSL modem, helped program a cisco switch, helped find a backdoor remote entry into the modem to let a programmer offsite set up a VPN, drove BACK to the college, planned out my assault for the next day, and watched anime.
Wednesday was the first day I didn't wake up at 7. I spent the day trying to catch apartment managers in their offices, and went on tours of two acceptable locations. After touring the shopping centers and mall of the city, I drove back home to share this information with my (far more experienced) parental units. Thursday I applied to the nicer of the two apartments and called the manager, who agreed to save me a spot until my check got there. I prepared to mentally unwind when my father informed me that the office we had set up on tuesday needed a printer installed. Said printer was so large that it was a two person job, so off we went again.
I think it's saturday now. I have applications to fill out, forms to copy/request/send, and an apartment manager to somehow convince that I'm good for the rent despite the fact that I don't have a job, and that my father doesn't receive W2's, what with being self employed and all. His latest suggestion is that I pay the six months up front, which seems to dodge the problem to me.
Looks like my vacation is over, but that's fine by me. We'll see where things go from here.
