from what i hear the people who run goth night are being cunts to a few people such as Dax *evil eyes* got glow sticks banned from the goth night and all that shit. that's why Mik isn't goin anymore apparently
I know the whole story about the glowstick ban issue. There was an announcement made by DJ Lovecraft (josephy) to that effect, but Dax (kiss_me_suicide) has no authority with the club to ban anything and DJ Random (lechant) has, as far as I know, absolutely no involvement with the issue at all.
I've talked with Mikayla (livewhatulearnd) and know her reasons, but I don't feel it would be my place to discuss that.
Regardless, it makes no sense for a club to ban one of its own DJs.
If anyone knows the Myspace crap with RK.. Thats what this has to do with.. Oh and while I was there, the goth crew (not Joe) was saying that they should not let people in even if they are in costume. That they should in essence be able to choose and what not.. To me that was a very elitest comment..It was a Holloween even where costumes were encouraged... why would they want to turn people away?! The whole glow stick thing got blown out of the water by everyone involved...as there was alot of mis-understanding and communication from both sides.
From my point of view, the whole glowstick issue began as a good-natured joke that, regardless of any other effect, would have brought people into the club who ended up being kept out.
Well I think the people who were going to do the raver thing took what was said about the no glow sticks or electronic music post on the flier to heart. The reason for the Goth night is for that side of the fence to have a night fro strictly goth music. I'm not sure the electronic music crowd understands this because they get 2 nights at Hell and a majority of the mixed night. The Goth side mis-understood the joke and context of the joke, thinking that there was malicious intent involved to ruin the night or to get people not to want to go, thus hurting attendance. All of this of course is my opinion after hearing both sides. I think whats going on now is a bit crazy.. I mean the whole reason we have seperate nights and themes is so this sorta stuff doesnt happen. But now I fear its starting to happen more frequently because people from both sides can start a flame war or whatever and then retreat to a night that they know the other side wont go to.
i think that the whole glow stick thing was blown outa proportion because people thought it wasn't allowed on any of the nights now i get it.. only the the true Goth night isn't it allowed. People must still just call sundays goth night out of repitition i still do.. alot hehe
See I totally understand this Joe.. But I dont think anyone from the electronic scene really does.. well maybe a few do. But honestly.. the point of Heresy is missed.. and that is really unfortunate
