I just composed by far and away the best piece of my entire life. And then some. It's a choral, SSAAATTBBB form composition using the words from Robert Frost's "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening." It's the most haunting, intricate, compelling piece I've ever written, and I feel like I'm going to explode if I don't hear it sung by a choir right now, or if I don't show someone, or explain to them how it all comes together....ahhh! The vocal chamber ensemble at SCCC is going to sing it, but I need to hear it right now...this piece got me all emotional...
"Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening"
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
Oh my god...this piece...must hear...now...
